🏡 Tastings & visitsAmarone della Valpolicella DOCGRecioto della Valpolicella DOCG

Cà dei Maghi originated from a hillside house in Fumane, where the Fasoli Fedrigo family took root and grandparents Fernando and Luigina founded Sanzenel, experimenting in the ancient Veronese vineyards. The original dwelling remains today the center of their activity, a point where local farming knowledge meets the production of Valpolicella's two great guaranteed denomination appassimento reds. Amarone and Recioto share the grapes — Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, and Rondinella — and the appassimento practice, but diverge in the fate of the sugar: dry and powerful the first, sweet and velvety the second, obtained by stopping fermentation. Both mature for a minimum of twenty-four months, a period during which the grapes yield depth and structure. The result tells two faces of the same hill, interpreted through a family rather than industrial scale. The winery opens its doors for tastings: a stop in Fumane is worthwhile to taste Amarone and Recioto in the house that gave birth to them, listening to the Fasoli Fedrigo family tell the story of the vineyards from which they come.
