CA' DEL BAIO di Grasso Giulio Società Semplice Agricola
Treiso · Province of Cuneo · Piemonte
In Treiso, on the ridge of the Langhe overlooking the crus of Barbaresco and Neive, the Grasso family has been working the same land for four generations. Their range of wines can be read in two registers. On one side, Nebbiolo, which here takes the form of two great guaranteed denomination reds, Barolo and Barbaresco, aged for no less than thirty-eight and twenty-six months respectively before bottling. On the other, Dolcetto, a native grape, expressed in the Diano d'Alba and Dogliani versions, more immediate but no less tied to the character of the soil. The thread that holds the range together is fidelity to the vintage: each harvest is interpreted for what it is, without forcing its profile, so that the diversity of the surrounding terroirs remains legible in the glass. The position, suspended between the slopes most suited to Nebbiolo, does the rest. The winery welcomes visitors: the climb to Treiso is well worth it to taste, side by side, the four faces of these hills.
