Aglianico del Vulture Superiore DOCG

In Forenza, in the province of Potenza, Cantina dei Templari works with a single denomination, `Aglianico del Vulture Superiore DOCG`, on the volcanic soils that give structure and identity to this corner of Basilicata. `Aglianico` is a demanding grape variety, slow to ripen and requiring patience: here it reaches at least 13.5% alcohol and rests for no less than thirty-six months before release, according to one of the most rigorous protocols in the Italian landscape. It is precisely this rigor that defines the wine. Grapes harvested in the fifteen municipalities of the area become reds of structured complexity, where the typical tannins and freshness of Vulture withstand long aging without softening. The winery does not pursue a wide range; instead, it concentrates its efforts on this single expression, making it a declaration of loyalty to the territory rather than a market choice. In the glass, the volcanic character of the soil remains legible, a sign of an area that demands much and yields wines of great longevity.
