On the Ovello hill in Barbaresco, the Vacca family has cultivated Nebbiolo since 1920. At the highest point of the vineyards stands a pine tree, planted by Domizio Cavazza, director of the Royal Oenological School of Alba, on the day Luigi Vacca was born: it is this deeply rooted symbol that gives the winery its name and measure. Decades of family stewardship and an intimate knowledge of the vineyard shape every label, without shortcuts. The four denominations are ordered by vitigno rather than by hierarchy. Nebbiolo signs the two long-aging reds, Barolo and Barbaresco DOCG, the backbone of the catalog and a true test of the Langhe terroir. Dolcetto, on the other hand, defines the more direct and everyday expression, with the Dogliani and Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba types, both DOCG, which deliver fruit and vigor without delay. It's a focused and coherent range, where each origin corresponds to a precise idea of hill and grape, and nothing is left to improvisation.
