Cantina di Custoza

On the morainic hills southeast of Lake Garda, Cantina di Custoza works a landscape that is first and foremost geology: deposits left by Pleistocene glaciations, shaped into concentric moraines that still define the vineyards today. From these poor and orderly soils, the Bardolino Superiore DOCG draws its mineral imprint, the note that distinguishes these reds from the simpler versions of the lake. In the cellar, work focuses on the classic Veronese trio—Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella—vinified into elegant reds that rest for at least twelve months before release. It is a wine that combines Garda lightness with a more serious structure, a result of both the soil and a territorial knowledge accumulated over time. The Superiore denomination demands patience, and the winery grants it. Those passing through these hills can stop for a tasting directly at the winery: it's the most direct way to read, in the glass, the link between the ancient moraines of Garda and the character of these red wines.
