Cantina di Monteforte

Garda DOCGarda DOP

Cantina di Monteforte gathers the work of six hundred associated farms on the volcanic soils of eastern Verona. Founded in 1952, the cooperative operates on two protected fronts: the Garda DOP extra virgin olive oil, with its delicately fruity profile and mineral depth, and the Garda DOC white wines made from Garganega, Trebbiano, Chardonnay, and Pinot Grigio. What unites the oil and wine is the soil: the dark basalts, vestiges of ancient volcanic activity, impart a recognizable character to both the olive fruit and the grapes. From still whites to more lively spumante versions, every bottle carries this geological heritage, which becomes the common thread of an otherwise broad and diversified production. The cooperative scale—hundreds of growers in a single territory—allows them to oversee both denominations without losing the connection to the volcanic matrix that unites them, making dark basalt the true denominator of Monteforte, from olive grove to vineyard.
