Cantina di Verona

delle Venezie DOC

Cantina di Verona oversees a single, vast denomination: the DOC delle Venezie, which encompasses nine hundred and forty-one municipalities spread across three northeastern provinces. As a cooperative, the scale of the territory is reflected in its ampelographic choices, built upon six white grape varieties — Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Müller Thurgau, Garganega, Verduzzo — with the addition of Tocai Friulano. From this foundation, the winery produces white, rosé, and 'ramato' (copper-hued) wines, three styles that leverage the diversity of the soils without exceeding the boundaries of a single DOC. The northeastern corridor where the winery operates features alpine and continental terroirs, where calcareous soils and cool nights concentrate acidity and mineral character. The result is wines that consistently exceed eleven percent alcohol and, despite originating from an enormous basin, seek a common thread in their freshness. Managing such an extensive area thus becomes an exercise in synthesis: many municipalities, many soils, a single recognizable stylistic signature in the glass.
