Cantina Kössler

Three denominations define the scope of Cantina Kössler's operations, and all three speak the language of Alto Adige. It starts from the slopes of Lago di Caldaro, where Schiava is the basis of local tradition and yields reds with fresh plum notes; the gaze then widens to the extensive Alto Adige DOC and the IGT Mitterberg, which gathers different slopes and microclimates into a single narrative. As the altitude increases, the register changes: the fruity softness of Schiava gives way to the precision of Pinot Bianco and Chardonnay, with their mineral backbone and longer maturation times. Reds, whites, and rosés thus become different ways of interpreting the same mountain, each with its own signature of soil and exposure. The winery welcomes visitors throughout the year: it's an opportunity to taste these expressions in sequence and see how just a few kilometers and a few hundred meters of elevation gain can profoundly shape the flavor.
