Cantina Kurtatsch

Cantina Kurtatsch oversees the Lago di Caldaro area, where the three Schiava varieties—grossa, gentile, and grigia—thrive under the influence of the alpine climate. From this grape, reds are crafted, calibrated to a minimum alcohol content of 10.5%, ranging from entry-level to classico and classico superiore. This is the most emblematic style of the house, but not the only one: production extends across three denominations of different scales, from the circumscribed Caldaro area to the vast Alto Adige DOC, and up to the IGT Mitterberg, a broader framework of the territory. Across the fifty-two municipalities of Alto Adige, the repertoire expands to include whites—from Pinot Grigio to Traminer Aromatico—and reds anchored by Lagrein and Pinot Nero, in a range that challenges the interpretation of the South Tyrolean terroir. The winery welcomes visitors and demonstrates how altitude, exposure, and soil shape every bottle: a tangible stop for those who wish to taste, side by side, the different levels of the same denomination.
