Pinerolese DOC

Cantina Lorenzo Pizzini operates in the Pinerolese DOC, the denomination encompassing thirty-four municipalities at the foot of the Turin Alps, in an area where viticulture coexists with the mountains. On difficult, steep terrains, the grape varieties that define this sub-alpine zone — Barbera, Bonarda, and Nebbiolo — thrive, vinified into reds and rosés that adhere to the prescribed minimum alcohol content of 11.5%. The high-valley continental climate, with its marked temperature fluctuations, guides these wines towards precision rather than opulence: taut profiles, with a mineral imprint, where fruit ripeness doesn't mask acidity but frames it. It's a less-traveled corner of Piedmontese wine, far from the spotlight of the Langhe, which upholds a tradition of deeply rooted grape varieties adapted to the place. Pizzini's bottles reflect this choice: to assert the alpine character of Pinerolese rather than chasing the style of the great Cuneo reds, and to honestly convey a borderland geography through the glass.
