CANTINA SOCIALE DI FONTANILE S.C.A.

Cantina Sociale di Fontanile gathers the work of a hilly Asti territory into three DOCGs that interpret the same landscape from different angles. On the clayey soils and sunny exposures of Monferrato, the cooperative vinifies Barbera d'Asti DOCG, Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG, and Terre Alfieri DOCG, relying on manual harvests and natural fermentations. This results in structured reds, where the clay component of the soils provides depth and sustainable practices serve as a method rather than just a label. The cooperative model allows for the integration of knowledge from many contributors, yielding a coherent profile across the three denominations. The winery is open for visits: it's worth a stop to understand, glass in hand, how the same hilly land can yield the broad tannins of Barbera, the spice of Ruchè, and the finesse of Terre Alfieri, all within a single tasting journey.
