Cantina Sociale di Rivalta Bormida

Cantina Sociale di Rivalta Bormida is a cooperative in the Alessandria Monferrato area, where the Brachetto grape ripens within a denomination spanning twenty-six municipalities. The structure reflects decades of investment: a three-story arched building flanked by modern oenological laboratories housed in a newly constructed building — a sign of a cooperative that has continuously renewed itself without losing its core function of collecting and enhancing its members' grapes. Under the direction of oenologist Renato Reggio, grape deliveries are systematically evaluated before vinification, which expresses Brachetto d'Acqui in its classic forms: still (`fermo`), sparkling (`spumante`), and passito, each exceeding the minimum alcohol content of 11.5%. It is an aromatic grape with a sweet nature, interpreted here in different styles but always within the parameters of the `disciplinare`. The resulting portrait is that of a niche denomination managed with a collective method, where upstream selection is as crucial as the winemaking process.
