Cantina Sociale Sampietrana

Founded in 1952 by sixty-eight winegrowers determined to vinify their own harvest, Cantina Sociale Sampietrana carries forward the cooperative model of Salento. The vineyards of San Pietro Vernotico feed two contiguous denominations, Brindisi DOC and Squinzano DOC, where `Negroamaro`, `Malvasia nera`, and the rare `Susumaniello` ripen in the climate of the Ionian Arch, amidst long sunshine and sea breezes. The cooperative structure is not an administrative detail: it gathers the work of many small plots under a common direction, transforming fragmentation into scale and coherence. Moving between two nearby DOCs, the winery explores different nuances of the same heritage of indigenous grape varieties, from robust reds to finer versions. The doors remain open to visitors, who can follow every phase of the transformation, from pressing to packaging.
