Malvasia delle Lipari DOCSalina IGT

On the volcanic island of Salina, in Malfa in the province of Messina, Cantine Colosi presides over Malvasia delle Lipari DOC, the emblematic wine of the Aeolian archipelago. From Malvasia di Lipari and Corinto nero grapes, three distinct expressions are born—the dry white, the sun-concentrated passito, and the fortified liquoroso—each over 11.5% alcohol, covering the entire spectrum from fresh to sweet. Alongside this denomination, the winery also works with the broader Salina IGT, which extends the production range beyond the Malvasia regulations. Rooted in the island's mineral soils and the salty air that marks its maturation, Colosi interprets a protected territory across four municipalities, where viticulture remains shaped by the volcanic nature of the soil before the hand of man. The two denominations, together, convey an idea of the Aeolian Islands made of meditation wines and more everyday labels, two different measures of the same island landscape battered by wind and sea.
