On the limestone plateau of Martina Franca, in the province of Taranto, Cantine Miali srl operates within the Castel del Monte denomination, where Nero di Troia dominates the vineyards of central Murgia. Three denominations define its production, distributed between structured reds and a characterful rosé. Two are Riserva expressions—one a pure Nero di Troia, the other a red blend—aged twenty-four months according to the prescribed protocol, the time necessary for this late-ripening and tannic grape to build its architecture. Alongside these, the winery champions Bombino Nero, a local grape that finds its ideal terrain on the continental plateau of Murgia, for a rosé with a mineral imprint. The thread uniting the three labels is the landscape itself: the altitude of the plateau and the wide temperature swings between day and cool nights, which slow maturation and sharpen aromas. The result is wines where the structure of Nero di Troia and the freshness of Bombino Nero tell, from different angles, the story of the same Apulian limestone.
