Aglianico del Taburno DOCG

In Baselice, on the northeastern slopes of Sannio, Cantiniere del Barone operates within the Aglianico del Taburno DOCG, where Campania's volcanic soils give rise to robust red and rosé wines. The primary grape is Aglianico, complemented by carefully selected co-fermented varieties, and the regulations mandate a minimum aging period of 24 months: a long time, necessary for the robust tannins of this grape to soften and find balance. While the denomination is singular, it is far from monotonous. The altitude of Taburno and the mineral nature of the soils leave a distinct signature in the glass, characterized by firm tannins and a tension that carries the wine through time. Here, Aglianico does not seek easy softness; it asserts structure and aging potential, showcasing the more austere and long-lived side of inland Campania. Each bottle is the synthesis of a high-altitude territory, where the volcanic substratum rests beneath the rows and silently dictates the rules of maturation.
