Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG

In southeastern Sicily, around Lake Biviere di Gela—the island's only salty coastal lake—Casa Grazia cultivates Nero d'Avola and Frappato, the two grapes that make up Cerasuolo di Vittoria. This is Sicily's only guaranteed denomination, and the winery has anchored its entire production to it. The sandy and calcareous soils absorb the mineral influence of the water table and the winds rising from the sea, concentrating an intensity in the grapes that the landscape dictates even before the cellar. After the harvest, an aging period of about eight months transforms that fruit into complex and elegant reds, where coastal salinity leaves a recognizable signature from vintage to vintage. It is a wine that also carries the memory of a place suspended between water and ancient myths: the Biviere is not merely a backdrop, but a climatic element that enters the glass along with the sun and salt of the Gela coast.
