Casadei Claudio
Predappio · Province of Forlì-Cesena · Emilia-Romagna
In Predappio, on the volcanic soils of the Forlì hinterland, Claudio Casadei entrusts his vineyard to Albana, an ancient white grape variety that finds its balance in the continental climate of Emilia-Romagna. The small scale of cultivation allows for hand-selected harvests, a choice that carves out a precise identity within the protected area, distributed across twenty-two municipalities. Production focuses on a single denomination, Romagna Albana DOCG, explored, however, in two complementary registers: the dry version and the passito, both built on the same grape but oriented towards different outcomes, from dry fruit to sweet concentration. The disciplinary code sets a minimum alcohol content of 12%, a threshold that marks the full character of this white and its aging potential. Casadei's work lies entirely in this dual interpretation of a single grape: no dispersion among many labels, but close attention to what Albana can yield when nurtured parcel by parcel, between dry and passito.
