Casale Pozzuolo

On a hilltop in Cinigiano, where a fifteenth-century residence overlooks the northwestern edge of the Maremma towards the wooded reliefs of Monte Amiata, Casale Pozzuolo produces Montecucco Sangiovese DOCG. The wine is based on Sangiovese, supported by other Tuscan red grape varieties that complete its profile, in an area spanning seven municipalities where altitude and exposure temper the heat of the Grosseto province. Seventeen months of aging give the red wine the structure and complexity needed to support the aromatic intensity of the terroir. It is a border wine, in the most concrete geographical sense: born where the Maremma gives way to the Amiata, and from this hinge between coastal plain and internal mountain, it draws a character that combines warmth and freshness.
