Casanuova-Thilo Besançon

At the gates of Figline e Incisa Valdarno, Casanuova-Thilo Besançon operates within the Val d'Arno di Sopra area, a denomination encompassing fourteen municipalities along the Florentine stretch of the Arno river. Here, clay and limestone soils, combined with a continental microclimate, craft wines with a distinct character: Sangiovese sets the local tone, complemented by international varieties like Merlot and Cabernet that complete the varietal landscape of the zone. The winery expresses the DOC in three colors — red, rosé, and white — maintaining the minimum alcohol content of 12% for each label, as stipulated by the regulations. This choice prioritizes the expression of the territory over concentration, where the valley and its soils remain the true subject of the bottle. Not open for visits, the estate entrusts its story to the glass: a Valdarno di Sopra that seeks fidelity to the grape variety and coherence with the agricultural landscape from which it originates, more interested in precision than in effect.
