CASAVECCHIA SOCIETA' SEMPLICE AGRICOLA
Diano d'Alba · Province of Cuneo · Piemonte
On ten hectares of property in Diano d'Alba, Casavecchia cultivates the full spectrum of Langa's red wines: Nebbiolo from the two great DOCGs, Barolo and Barbaresco, and Dolcetto in its Diano d'Alba and Dogliani expressions. Three generations alternate around an eighteenth-century stone and antique brick building, whose vaulted brick cellar dictates the slow pace of aging. The winemaking choices distinguish the grape varieties by their nature. Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba matures in concrete tanks, preserving its immediate fruitiness; Nebbiolo and Barolo, on the other hand, rely on oak, in barrels and barriques of different capacities, where structure and tannin find their composure. The work is guided by agronomist Marco and enologist Luca, supported by the experience of their father Sergio. The result is a measured interpretation of Piedmontese classics, oriented towards concentration and balance rather than mere effect, and anchored in the continuity of a family that has been producing here for three generations.
