Cascina Bretta Rossa

Tagliolo Monferrato · Province of Alessandria · Piemonte

Alta Langa DOCG

At an altitude of four hundred meters, on 17th-century stone foundations overlooking the Stura and Orba valleys, Cascina Bretta Rossa in Tagliolo Monferrato is one of only fourteen producers in the Alta Langa DOCG consortium. This is where its sole protected denomination is concentrated: Metodo Classico sparkling wines, in white and rosé versions, aged for thirty-six months on the lees, well beyond the thirty-month minimum required by regulations. This choice prioritizes complexity over yield. Around this core, however, the winery also produces other wines outside the denomination's perimeter: a Dolcetto crafted for drinkability, a red aged for a long time on the skins in the style of Barolo, and less orthodox blends like Macatin, which intertwines Shiraz, Pinot, and Albarossa. The result is a portrait of a winery that maintains its high-altitude sparkling wine vocation without sacrificing experimentation, moving between methodical rigor and oenological curiosity on a ridge overlooking two valleys.
