At Cascina Cà Rossa in Canale, in the province of Cuneo, Angelo Ferrio cultivates four denominations with methodical order and without excess. The focus is on the two expressions of Nebbiolo, Barbaresco and Barolo, each entrusted to long aging periods, flanked by Dolcetto di Dogliani and Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba, which are more direct and suited for everyday enjoyment. The winery's story begins with Alfonso, Angelo's father, who cultivated fruit in Roero when the area was not yet recognized for wine; the generational transition, initiated in 1992, established a principle of measure, with wines built on consistency rather than quantity or rhetoric. The four labels, from the two great Nebbiolo wines to the Dolcetto, compose a portrait of the territory interpreted without forcing. Those visiting Canale can stop at the cellar: Cà Rossa welcomes visitors for tastings, the most direct opportunity to see how Nebbiolo changes between Barolo and Barbaresco and where Dolcetto finds its own character.
