From Acqui Terme, in the Alessandria area, Cascina Feriola works with three DOCG denominations that span an arc between Monferrato and the Asti area. The cornerstone is Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato, a red wine crafted from the indigenous grape variety Ruchè; alongside it are Barbera d'Asti, a pillar of regional red wine, and selections from the broader Terre Alfieri denomination. Three controlled origins mean three production specifications and three geographies: each wine adheres to its own parameters, from minimum alcohol levels to varietal profiles, positioning the winery within Piedmont's dense cartography of denominations. The choice is not about breadth for its own sake, but about interpreting the territory: Ruchè brings its recognizable aromatic imprint, Barbera its acidic backbone that makes it an everyday table red, and Terre Alfieri a more relaxed profile.
