Cascina Fornace

Roero DOCG

Cascina Fornace operates in Roero, the Piedmontese DOCG that spans 19 municipalities where sandy soils and a continental climate create a wine profile distinct from the rest of the region. The backbone for the reds is Nebbiolo, complemented by Arneis, which yields crisp white and sparkling wines, with complementary grape varieties chosen to complete the range. The denomination permits reds, whites, and sparkling wines, and the winery explores its full spectrum without forcing. The character is defined by the regulations of the *disciplinare*: at least 20 months of aging and a minimum alcohol content of 12.5% for the red, thresholds that demand patience and selection. On sandy soils, Nebbiolo loses some power and gains in finesse, offering an expression of a cool climate far from the region's more muscular production. Each bottle reflects this terroir and the careful approach required to capture it: a Roero that opts for detail and tension over concentration, faithful to the physiognomy of its soils.
