From Castel Boglione, in the province of Asti, Cascina Nuova by Paolo Padovani operates at the crossroads of three Piemonte DOCG denominations, each with a distinct character. The cornerstone is Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato, crafted from a rare grape variety that yields structured reds, over 12.5% alcohol, with a recognizable aromatic profile. Alongside this, Padovani also produces Terre Alfieri across the eleven municipalities of the area, where both white wines and reds from Nebbiolo coexist, and Barbera d'Asti, an emblematic expression of the Asti region that requires at least four months of aging before reaching the glass. Three such closely located origins reveal the intricate viticultural mosaic between Monferrato and Astigiano, where soils, exposures, and grapes change within just a few kilometers.
