In Castagnole delle Lanze, from a position overlooking the Asti Langhe, Cascina Orizzonte cultivates four DOCG denominations. The repertoire is organized around two cornerstone grape varieties of Piemonte: Nebbiolo, which gives body to Barolo and Barbaresco, and Dolcetto, the protagonist of Dogliani and Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba. The former demand long waits — at least 38 months for Barolo, 26 for Barbaresco — yielding wines of austere and long-lived character; the latter speak a more immediate, fruity, and everyday language. The coexistence of these two styles reveals the dual soul of the hills: on one hand, the patience of aging, on the other, the freshness ready for the table. Each vintage demonstrates how much the regulations and terroir influence the final result, leaving no room for improvisation. The winery opens its doors to visitors: book a tasting to sample the four denominations in sequence and grasp firsthand the difference between the time required for Nebbiolo and the immediacy of Dolcetto.
