Cascina Pellerino

Cascina Pellerino cultivates the sandy and calcareous soils of Roero, on the left bank of the Tanaro river, where Nebbiolo finds a more slender and aromatic expression compared to its Langhe neighbors. The winery's sole denomination, Roero DOCG, however, unfolds into a broad spectrum: from Nebbiolo reds to Arneis, and even sparkling wines, covering the entire range of what these vineyards can express. Nebbiolo yields elegant reds with a fine texture, defining the modern identity of the area; Arneis, on the other hand, showcases the crystalline minerality and aromatic finesse of Roero's emblematic white wine. Twenty months of aging precede the release of the reds, the necessary time for the sandy soil — which tends to produce ready-to-drink wines — to nonetheless impart structure and depth. This is a winery that interprets its denomination in its entirety, without hierarchies between white and red, and that finds the key to its style in the variety of sandy-calcareous soils: subtraction rather than power, detail rather than volume.
