CASCINA RABAGLIO di Rigo Salatin s.s.a.

Barbaresco · Province of Cuneo · Piemonte

From Barbaresco, Cascina Rabaglio approaches Nebbiolo with a two-stage aging process: French barriques extract complexity, then zero-toast Slavonian oak barrels soften the tannins. The result is a layered Barbaresco, where raspberry, violet, and subtle spices slowly develop in the bottle until they achieve the mineral elegance demanded by the Langhe terroir. It's a method that rejects brute force in favor of balance, allowing time to play its part. The four denominations of the house outline a coherent geography. The two flagship Nebbiolo wines—Barbaresco and Barolo, the latter structured and expansive—are complemented by the finer versions of Dolcetto, including Dogliani and Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba: direct reds, with dark fruit and straightforward drinkability. Together, they tell a story of Piedmont that alternates between depth and immediacy, never succumbing to concentration for its own sake. The winery opens its doors to visitors: it's worth a stop to taste, glass after glass, how these two grape varieties interpret the same landscape.
