Barbera d'Asti DOCGRuchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCGTerre Alfieri DOCG

From Sala Monferrato, Cascina San Pietro cultivates three DOCG denominations of vastly different scales: Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato across seven municipalities, Terre Alfieri across eleven—Arneis for whites, Nebbiolo for reds—and Barbera d'Asti over a much wider area of one hundred and sixty-five municipalities. While the geographical scale changes, the underlying philosophy remains constant: to interpret the soil through the most suitable grape variety. The heart of their production is Barbera, expressed in everything from monovarietal reds to pét-nats, signaling a viticulture that blends Piedmontese tradition with sustainable vineyard management. The Barbera d'Asti adheres to a minimum of four months of aging; Ruchè, Nebbiolo, and Arneis achieve their prescribed alcohol levels through meticulous work on terroir and vintage. This is not a portfolio designed to cover the market, but rather to explore three distinct expressions of Monferrato using a consistent method. The structural depth of the region shines through in both the full-bodied reds and the more experimental versions, ensuring that innovation never betrays its origins.
