CASCINA TIOLE Az. Agr. di Grasso Massimo

Established in Monforte d'Alba in 1933, Cascina Tiole has almost a century of family work in the Barolo area. Massimo Grasso, the third generation, personally oversees the vineyard from pruning to harvest, with low yields designed to concentrate the character of Nebbiolo and Dolcetto. Four denominations make up their production: Barolo and Barbaresco from the most prestigious areas of the Langhe, alongside Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba and Dogliani. Each wine adheres to the minimum aging requirements, from the 38 months demanded by Barolo to the 26 for Barbaresco, and this precise timing becomes part of the winery's language. Nebbiolo and Dolcetto coexist here as two different registers: the first for long-aging reds, the second for more direct yet no less carefully crafted expressions. The cellar is open to visitors: it's well worth stopping in Monforte to explore this range in person and see how a single hand unites four distinct denominations, each with its own time and its own territory.
