Fattoria Castello di Volpaia traces its roots to 1172, when the Florentine Della Volpaia family—renowned for crafting sundials and astrolabes—shaped the estate's character. Lorenzo dei della Volpaia, collaborator of Leonardo da Vinci, left his imprint on Renaissance Florence. Today, under the Mascheroni Stianti family, the farm continues that legacy: 45 hectares of Sangiovese, Trebbiano Toscano, and Canaiolo Nero vineyards sit above 400 metres, on arenaria soils that produce structured, age-worthy reds. Visitors discover not only Toscano IGT wines but also estate-grown vegetables, anchoring viticulture to the land's agricultural soul.
