Giacomo Barbero

Giacomo Barbero tends vines in San Grato di Valpone, where his great-grandfather Giorgio began work in the late 1800s. Now stewarding those same plots near Canale d'Alba, he applies renewable energy and ecosystem-conscious viticulture to coax Nebbiolo and Arneis toward expression of Roero's terroir. His reds age 20 months minimum; his whites and spumanti capture the zone's minerality. Visits and tastings welcome.
