Carlo Guiglia works in Casaleggio Boiro, a hillside village in the Alessandria province where the Dolcetto di Ovada Superiore zone spreads across 22 municipalities. His reds draw from Dolcetto grapes, aged a minimum of 12 months to develop complexity. At 12.5% alcohol minimum, these wines express the slate and clay soils particular to this southeastern Piedmont pocket, where cooler elevations temper ripeness and preserve acidity—a counterpoint to riper interpretations elsewhere in the region.
