La Castellada traces its roots to 1954, when Giuseppe Bensa returned from Switzerland to establish a vineyard and osteria in Gorizia. In 1985, his sons Giorgio and Nicolò transformed the family operation into a dedicated bottling estate across 10 hectares. The vineyard splits into two contrasting blocks: older vines (45–55 years) planted at traditional density yield generous crops, while younger plantings (25 years) at higher density restrict production, concentrating ripeness and extract in Collio Goriziano whites and reds.
