Marcel Zanolari

In the 1980s, Giuliano Zanolari launched experiments on two small parcels in Bianzone, pursuing an unconventional growing method to eliminate synthetic pesticides—uncommon for the era. Over fifteen years, he tested Nebbiolo, Pinot Nero, and Cabernet Sauvignon, encountering both encouraging results and significant losses. This pioneer's refusal to follow convention shaped an approach centered on independence: crafting Sforzato di Valtellina DOCG and Valtellina Superiore DOCG without mimicking others. Today, Marcel Zanolari welcomes visitors to taste wines born from that early defiance.
