Scartazza Mario commands vineyards in the Val Baganza, where clay-rich soils—remnants of ancient sea beds—anchor vines on the left bank of the Baganza stream. Planted in the late 1990s, these holdings yield Colli di Parma wines from Barbera, Bonarda, and Croatina. The calanchi, dramatic eroded ridges, frame a terrain deliberately spare and demanding. Modern technical oversight accompanies traditional knowledge, ensuring each fermentation—whether still, frizzante, or spumante—captures both the terroir's austere character and the valley's intimate identity.
