Zaban Matteo

Matteo Zaban works three DOCG zones across the Colli Orientali del Friuli, each demanding its own mastery. In Nimis, his vineyard faces the limestone slopes where Verduzzo Friulano ripens into Ramandolo's honeyed sweetness at 14% alcohol, while metres away Picolit—Friuli's rarest white—yields concentrated passitos at 15% or more. Between them lie the bone-dry whites of Rosazzo, where Friulano and Sauvignon meet in steely precision. Zaban's work spans four denominations, each a distinct expression of northeast Italy's mineral terroir.
