In Vignale Monferrato, in the province of Alessandria, Carlo Santopietro guides Il Mongetto in producing `Barbera del Monferrato Superiore DOCG`, a denomination whose area extends across two hundred and twelve municipalities in Piedmont. It is the most ambitious version of local `Barbera`, which the production specifications anchor to at least fourteen months of aging to build the complexity required by the superior category.
