Recioto di Gambellara DOCG

Sordato Lino operates in Montebello Vicentino, one of the four municipalities in the pre-Alpine area of Gambellara, focusing its work on a single denomination: Recioto di Gambellara. It is the sweet wine made from the local Garganega grape, obtained from dried grapes in an area where a continental climate and calcareous soils impart acidity and structure. The producer crafts two expressions: the passito and the spumante, both with a minimum alcohol content of 14%. On one hand, there's the still, golden concentration of the dried grapes; on the other, the same material made lively and more taut by the secondary fermentation. Focusing on a single denomination here means engaging with Garganega without shortcuts, following it from the harvested bunch to the slow loss of water on the drying racks. The winery is not open to visitors, but the Recioto itself tells the story of this minor yet tenacious Venetian territory, where sweetness is never an end in itself but rather the natural outcome of a grape variety and a specific drying method.
