Azienda agricola Grassenis Sonia

In the Bergamo hills of Nembro, Grassenis Sonia works within the strict limits of Valcalepio DOC, the denomination that regulates the rhythms and proportions of each harvest. The focus is on reds: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Incrocio Terzi N.1, a grape variety with a recognizable local imprint. The minimum aging of twelve months is not a whim, but the threshold imposed by the regulations for the wine to acquire compactness and balance. Surrounding this is the broader Terre del Colleoni DOC denomination, which opens the range to lighter wines alongside the darker ones, all required to have a minimum alcohol content of 11%. Within this dual perimeter—one more circumscribed, the other broader—the company measures its work against the Lombard grammar of hillside wine, without forcing.
