Azienda Agricola Guardiani Farchione

In Tocco da Casauria, Azienda Agricola Guardiani Farchione cultivates six DOC denominations built around Montepulciano and indigenous Abruzzese grape varieties. At the pinnacle for structure are the reds of Villamagna, with a minimum aging of ten months, alongside the versatility of Controguerra, which offers reds, rosés, and whites. Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and Trebbiano d'Abruzzo cover the two classic poles of the region, while Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo bottles its characteristic pale cherry hue, and the Abruzzo DOC ties the whole picture together. Each set of regulations imposes a different threshold — minimum alcohol content ranging from eleven and a half to thirteen degrees — and it is within this scale that the winery's discipline is measured. The volcanic terroir and continental climate impart a marked character to the wines, which the producer does not soften but allows to emerge. Six denominations are many for a single territory: here, they serve to traverse the enological Abruzzo from rosé to age-worthy red, without resorting to shortcuts.
