Caffarel s.p.a.

Luserna San Giovanni · Province of Torino · Piemonte

Nocciola del Piemonte IGP

Founded in 1786, Caffarel is part of Turin's chocolate history, but its raw material originates further west, in Luserna San Giovanni, where the Pinerolo valleys open towards the Cottian Alps. Here, the company links its name to a single denomination, Nocciola del Piemonte IGP: the Tonda Gentile Trilobata, with its almost spherical shape and thin shell that opens effortlessly, boasting an aroma capable of withstanding roasting and supporting various doughs. Two and a half centuries of work have made this fruit the backbone of their range, from gianduia to pralines. The geographical indication does not merely function as a brand of origin: it defines a supply chain where the quality of the Piedmontese hazelnut influences every stage of processing. The company continues to choose this protected variety as a constant reference, a measure of its confectionery language. In a landscape dominated by imported hazelnuts, loyalty to a local and certified fruit speaks to a precise idea of belonging to the subalpine territory.
