Gattinara DOCGGhemme DOCG

Rooted in Sizzano, amidst the Novara vineyards, Cantina Comero interprets two high-Piedmont DOCG reds, Gattinara and Ghemme, born on the slopes that mark this corner of the region. The primary grape variety is Nebbiolo, known here as Spanna, flanked by Vespolina and Uva Rara: a blend that prioritizes mineral intensity and structure over immediate softness. Both denominations require over three years of aging, a long wait that the wine repays in complexity and longevity. The winery oversees the entire process, from grape to bottling, a choice that allows each label to retain the character of its native soil. This approach favors longevity over early pleasantness, consistent with an area where northern Nebbiolo expresses austere and multifaceted profiles, distinct from the more opulent tones of the Langhe. The result is classically structured, measured wines, where the producer's hand serves the territory rather than overshadowing it.
