Cantine Conte Zandotti
Roma · Province of Roma · Lazio
At the gates of Rome, in the Castelli Romani area, Cantine Conte Zandotti interprets the historic white wines of Frascati in two versions. Frascati Superiore DOCG and Cannellino di Frascati DOCG are born from the same blend of Malvasia bianca di Candia, Bellone, Trebbiano, and complementary Lazio grape varieties, but take different paths: one dry, the other sweet. What unites them are the volcanic soils and the Mediterranean climate of the five municipalities within the denomination, which impart a recognizable character to the glass. The difference between dry and sweet thus becomes a way to explore two facets of the same landscape, that of Roman viticulture which has made Frascati a familiar name far beyond its borders. The winery is open for visits: one can tour the production areas and taste the two labels on site, directly appreciating the contrast between the tension of the Superiore and the softness of the Cannellino, both generated from the same grapes and the same volcanic soil.
