Cantine Greco

Cantine Greco works with two Calabrian denominations situated between the inland hills and the coastline: Cirò DOC and Melissa DOC. Both revolve around Gaglioppo and other indigenous red grape varieties of the area, and the contrast between altitude and proximity to the sea becomes the key to understanding all the work in the cellar. The reds of Cirò start with a minimum alcohol content of 12% by volume, while the selections from Melissa—both whites and reds—rise to 12.5%, a measure that hints at the breadth of the local ampelographic heritage. Along this scale, the entire range is arranged, from ready-to-drink bottles to reserves built to last. The winery welcomes visits and tastings: it's worth stopping to verify, glass in hand, how a few kilometers from the coast and a few tens of meters of elevation gain are enough to change the profile of the same grape variety, shifting the emphasis from freshness to structure.
