Caridi Antonio

Bianco · Province of Reggio Calabria · Calabria

Costa Viola IGTLocride IGTPalizzi IGT+1

In the narrow stretch of sea separating Sicily from the mainland, Caridi Antonio operates from Bianco, in the province of Reggio Calabria, working across four typical geographical indications of southern Calabria: Pellaro, Costa Viola, Palizzi, and Locride. These are diverse yet contiguous territories, which together cover up to 25 municipalities and reflect the ampelographic stratification of the peninsula's southernmost tip. Here, indigenous varieties like Nerello and Montonico find congenial conditions, giving rise to white, red, rosé, and novello wines that meet rigorous standards of alcohol content and varietal selection. The multiplicity of denominations is not dispersion but method: each indication corresponds to a specific microclimate, exposure, and winemaking tradition, and the producer keeps them distinct as separate interpretations of the same landscape. In this part of Calabria, the designation of origin does not function as a mere label, but as a key to recognizing how different soils, winds, and altitudes are deposited, each in its own way, in the glass.
