Carlo Micara

From the Castelli Romani, in a historic residence served by Roman-era infrastructure — including a cistern that has been in operation for over two thousand years — Carlo Micara roots his viticulture in a long history. The winery is built around this ancient water system, linking contemporary practice to the centuries-old wine trade of the region. There are two complementary DOCG denominations: Frascati Superiore, a dry white, and Cannellino di Frascati in its sweeter version. Both are aged in a dialogue between oak barriques and terracotta amphorae, a choice of vessels that seeks definition without weighing down the fruit. Visitors can access both the active vineyard and the restored cellar: exploring them means seeing how landscape and heritage shape these Lazio whites, and how a millennia-old cistern continues to set the rhythm of the work. It's a stop that clearly illustrates the connection between the territory and what ends up in the glass.
