In Lu e Cuccaro Monferrato, within the Barbera del Monferrato area, Casalone Vini concentrates its work on a single denomination, the Barbera del Monferrato Superiore DOCG, which extends across two hundred and twelve Piedmontese municipalities. The reds are born from the encounter between Barbera, Freisa, Grignolino, and Dolcetto and rest for at least fourteen months, the time necessary to build structure and depth. The area, marked by volcanic terroir and a continental climate, imparts a distinct character to the wines, which aging supports without forcing. The choice of a single denomination worked in depth speaks volumes about the company's method: refining a handful of traditional grape varieties to extract their best possible version, rather than spreading thin.
