Castaldi Francesca works the steep hillsides of Alto Piemonte in Piedmont, where the family has tended vines since 1700. The producer brings together ancestral Nebbiolo—locally called Spanna—with Vespolina and Uva Rara to craft two DOCG wines: Gattinara and Ghemme. Each requires over two years of aging to reach the minimum 12.5% and 12% alcohol respectively. Today, Francesca carries forward this generational commitment to native grapes and sustainable viticulture, bottling everything on-site as an independent member of FIVI federation.
